Mood:
There are many important events going on around the world. By far one of the most important is starvation. This problem is world wide and effects people around the world.
Factors of starvation:One of the factors that effects the level of people starving is drought. Drought and floods have caused starvation in certain regions of Africa, China, and India.During the 1870's, the dry weather in the Deccan Plateau caused starvation and took about 5 million lives. In the 1960's and now, millions of Africans have died of hunger.
People of starvation:The Sahel was not the only African region to suffer from drought in the 1970's. Drought acted throughout the continent during the decade and into the 1980's. By 1989, more than 150 million people in twenty-four African nations were facing starvation. Families everywhere abandoned their homes to seek food.
How Starvation effected people:Famine effects people because they become weaker and die. When they are weak they get diseases including kwashiorkor, cholera, and typhus. People who get kwashiorkor and don't die willl have medical issues throughout their lives.
Animals of Starvation:During a famine prolongs the disaster. Many farm animal die and are killed for food. Farmers kill them to prevent themselves from starving. Migration..... "Large numbers of famine victims leave their homes in rural areas and flock to refugee camps were food may be avalible. In the confusion parents and children may get separated"(Harrington).
Causes:Problems that may cause starvation are war, general disasters such as floods or earthquakes and more. 70% of all water is used for agriculture, without the water supplies the crops fail, and food supplies are reclude
What happens: Another cause of famine is to much rainfall. Rivers overflow and cause farmland to be destroyed. The extra water causes crops to rot. One river, the Huang He river located in China is called China's sorrow because it often floods. Thus causing famine.
How droughts effect the world: "These droughts have severly damaged the global food supply, including Italy's grape crop and New zealand's sheep production. Hardest hit of all have been the vital crops of wheat, corn, and other grains"(Dolan).
